How do I remove metadata from a photo?
Upload your image, review what it reveals, then click Erase everything to download a clean copy. It works the same to delete metadata, clear EXIF data or erase only the fields you choose. No software to install, no account, free.
What metadata gets removed?
The full strip produces a copy of your photo with an empty metadata layer. That includes:
- GPS location: latitude, longitude, altitude and direction.
- Device identifiers: camera make, model, serial number and owner name.
- Dates and times: when the photo was taken, digitised and edited.
- Software traces: editing tools, versions and creator applications.
- Embedded thumbnails and previews: small copies of the image that can survive edits.
- AI fingerprints: C2PA Content Credentials, Stable Diffusion and ComfyUI parameters.
How do I remove the location from a photo?
Drop the photo above, then either click Remove location on the map card, or turn on Protect my privacy, which also clears the camera serial number and your name. Everything else stays in the file. The report shows the coordinates before you remove them, so you can check what was there.

Does removing EXIF data reduce image quality?
No. Unlike converters that re-encode the picture, Pixvisor rewrites only the metadata. There is no recompression: the pixels stay identical, and the ICC colour profile and orientation flag are preserved, so colours and rotation don’t change after cleaning.
How do I delete metadata from many photos at once?
To remove EXIF data in bulk, open the home page tool and choose Clean many files: add several images, clear their metadata in one action and download everything as a single ZIP archive.
What’s the difference between EXIF, IPTC and XMP?
EXIF is written by cameras and phones (settings, dates, GPS); IPTC is the press/agency layer (captions, credits); XMP is Adobe’s extensible layer that can mirror both and carry AI provenance. This remover clears all three at once.

What we keep on purpose
Two things survive a full strip, and both exceptions are deliberate.
- The ICC colour profile stays. Remove it and colours shift on any screen that manages colour.
- The orientation flag stays. Remove it and portrait photos display sideways.
Neither one identifies you, so stripping them would break the image for no privacy gain.
The pixels are never re-encoded either. Metadata sits in its own section of the file, so it can be rewritten without touching the image. No quality loss, no colour shift.
